Are you looking to kick off those winter blues and start looking ahead to spring? The Northeast Texas Community College Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg is planning a trip to the Dallas Arboretum's Dallas Blooms festival March 17.
A chartered bus will depart from the Center in Pittsburg on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:45 a.m.††For those living in Titus and/or Morris Counties, the bus will arrive at Lowe?s in Mount Pleasant for pickup and will depart at 8:00 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m.††Guests will tour the gardens and enjoy eating lunch at one of the dining options located at the Arboretum.†The day will end with a quick stop in Rockwall for shopping and snacks before returning to Northeast Texas.
"We have had a tremendous response to our previous road trips and we are looking forward to offering the community another chance to to enjoy a fun, affordable travel opportunity," Judy Jackson,†Director of Educational Services and Community Relations/Camp County, said.
Dallas Blooms, Dallas Arboretum?s largest floral festival in the Southwest, has been a tradition ?Deep in the Hearts of Texans? for 31 years.† This year?s Texas-sized extravaganza will feature more than 500,000 blooming spring bulbs along with themed topiaries, entertainment, food and other activities celebrating the iconography of our state that is recognizable world-wide.
Texas is known as the state that does it big.†The Arboretum?s enterprising work is made evident throughout the 66-acre property ? from the ground-breaking research conducted in its trial gardens to the 3,000 azaleas blooming in April. And it?s not just the ?sage in bloom that?s like perfume?, the incredible color gardens featuring tulips, daffodils, Dutch Iris, hyacinths, violas and more than 100,000 pansies will paint the grounds throughout Spring.
What better back drop to showcase the larger-than-life Èlan and diverse heritage of our great state? You?ll see the great symbols of Texas ? longhorns and of course the Texas Star ? fashioned from ornamental grasses, hear the nostalgic melodies from the when the West was Wild, and taste cuisine that draws Yankees south of the Red River. To paraphrase John Steinbeck ?Texas is the obsession and the passionate possession of all Texans.?

The cost is $40 if purchased by February 10 and $49 after†February 10. The cost covers transportation and admission to the Dallas Arboretum.
