NTCC softball kicks off spring season

The Northeast Texas Community College Lady Eagles Softball team split two doubleheaders with the Temple Junior College Leopards to start their season. They kicked off the series with a 10-0 win on Friday and dropped their nightcap 3-2. The Lady Eagles started off the day on Saturday with an 8-0 win and dropped the second game in another one-run barn burner, 4-3.

?We scheduled to play Temple at the last minute and we had just started practicing on the field and coming together as a team. The girls played a very good team and they gave them a run for their money, we went into extra innings both days and came out on top, I expect the fight to only get stronger throughout the year,"†Assistant Coach Alexis Beltran, said.

The lady Eagles followed the season openers with a trip to Murray State (Okla) where they swept their opponents 12-0 and 8-3. They also played Weatherford College in a doubleheader and dropped two one-run games bringing their season record to 4-4.

The Lady Eagles take on Cisco (away) in a double header on Thursday and will join Weatherford, Tyler, and Navarro colleges on Friday and Saturday February 13 and 14 for a two day tournament at the Coyote Chillout hosted by Weatherford College. The tournament kicks off for the Eagles at noon against Weatherford at WC Stuart Field. The Eagles will then return home to face Ouchita Baptist Junior College at 3 and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Eagle Field.
