What career are you thinking about pursuing?†

Nursing

How did you find out about the work scholarship program?†

I had to go into Blackboard for my†spring classes and the work†scholarship program was on the front of the school website.†It got my attention and I applied.

What made you want to apply?†

I have a full time job, and live by myself &†I have bills to pay, so I figured working during the summer and earning money for college would make it easier for me when it comes†down to pay for my classes during the fall semester.

What are your thoughts on the program now that you are participating?†

I've learned a lot of work ethic outside with the animals and being in the heat. My full time job consists of pretty much being in an office handling paperwork all the time. Being†on the farm is a totally different atmosphere, especially because it's so hot.

How is the work scholarship program helping you reach your goals?†

It's helping me a lot financially. I get very limited financial aid so working for my college gets†me a step closer to where I†want to be in my professional†life.

Comment from Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement:

Norma is an excellent example of a student who is taking full advantage of her Northeast experience. She is very focused on her goals and is willing to work hard to achieve them. There are not many people who would be willing to put in the kind of hours she does. That is what the Work Scholarship Program is all about ? giving people who are willing to work hard to earn their education a chance to do so.
