Northeast Texas Community College Foundation participated in East Texas Giving Day Tuesday to raise money for emergency scholarships to provide much-needed assistance to students in distress.† NTCC employees, foundation board members and community friends gave generously during the event, with gifts totaling $7,115. The college will also receive approximately $3,000 in additional funding as a result of participating in the event, bringing the total to $10,000 for student scholarships.

?We are so grateful for the support we received from our employees and friends to make this day such a big success for our students,? said Nita May, Director of Development. ?Our employees give generously all year long to support college programs and students in ways we cannot always quantify. We†appreciate†their support and the on-going support of our community.?

East Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online event that brings the region together as a community for one day, raising money and awareness for East Texas nonprofits such as the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation.

?East Texas Giving day was a great time to give to the emergency scholarship fund, because the first $2,500 in individual gifts were doubled by a matching gift from the Marans Fund,? said May. ?Burt and Nancy Marans were very generous supporters of the college and we are thankful that their generosity continues to provide support for our students today through their planned gift.?

East Texas Giving Day is organized by East Texas Communities Foundation (ETCF), and provides citizens across ETCF's 32-county service area an easy platform to support the mission of local nonprofits that serve our communities.
