Theatre Northeast, the student theatre group of Northeast Texas Community College, will present the play Thieves March 2-5 in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.

The audience will join the cast for an intimate, on-stage performance of the 1974 Broadway play by Herb Gardner. The Thursday through Saturday shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee performance is at 2:05 p.m.

Set in New York City over the course of one night, this dramatic comedy focuses on the strained relationship of Martin and Sally Cramer.†Surrounded by an ensemble of colorful street people and quintessential NYC neighbors, Martin and Sally's break up and journey to rediscover each other, is a story of heartbreak, humor and hope.

?Our production of Thieves has a great ensemble of student actors, bringing to the stage an intimate look into modern relationships.† For such a young cast, I'm proud of the way they all have connected with both the light and dark subject matter and my hope is, our audience will be able to connect to the characters as well.,? Martin Holden, Director, said.

The cast includes Aaron Franks, Brianna Stacks, David Hullett, Benjamin Ruland, Alyssa Saunders, Chad Kennedy and Elizabeth Taraba of Pittsburg; Francisco Arroyo of Mount Pleasant (Chapel Hill); Nathan Johnson of Mount Vernon; Hannah Dove of Atlanta; Alyson Cortez and Vasti Mejia of Mount Pleasant; Alex Plunkett of Gilmer and Breanne Gunn of Hughes Springs.

General admission is $10, $8 for students, and $5 for senior citizens and NTCC faculty and staff. NTCC students get in free with college ID. Due to limited seating, reservations are recommended by calling the Whatley Center Box Office at 903-434-8181. Thieves contains mature language and themes, so discretion is advised.
