Iris Society presents scholarship to NTCC Ag student

The Piney Woods Iris Society of Mount Pleasant met at their regular meeting Monday, Oct. 15 to present Northeast Texas Community College student Jan Shirley with a $500 scholarship. Shirley was nominated by René McCracken, NTCC Director of Agriculture. She was highly recommended for the scholarship and she hopes to finish her degree in horticulture. The Iris Society presents scholarship funds each year to help someone interested in the horticulture field.

The Piney Woods Iris Society is a member of Region 17 of the Iris Society. They meet the third Monday of each month at the Titus County Ag-Extension Office in Mount Pleasant and they encourage new people to join them.
