On Tuesday, October 2 at 7:30pm guitar virtuoso Jason Vieaux will perform at Northeast Texas†Community College?s Whatley Center for the Performing Arts (2866 FM 1735). The program includes Giuliani?s Grande†Overture; Bach?s Lute No. 1, BWV 996; Britten?s Nocturnal; Dowland?s Fantasy in E Major; AlbÈniz?s Sevilla; Pat Metheny?s†The Bat; Visconti?s Devils Strum; and Merlin?s Suite del Recuerdo.

?As presenters and fans of the classical guitar have known for years, some of my solo programs have a certain†type of over-arching theme to them, like my e/MERGE programs, and then there are those where I stylistically just pull out all†the stops. Well, this program is the latter ? this concert has Bach, Argentinean, 19th Century Italian, Modern, Renaissance,†Spanish, Delta Blues, Jazz, all in just over 60 minutes! I hope it?s a musical adventure that my audience in Mt. Pleasant will enjoy," Vieaux said.

In June 2012, Jason Vieaux launched the Jason Vieaux Classical Guitar School from ArtistWorks. This revolutionary online†school, the first of its kind for classical guitar, gives students of any age, ability, or location an unprecedented level of access to†studies with Vieaux through ArtistWorks? Video ExchangeTM†accelerated learning platform.

"Vieaux is an immensely talented artist and music educator. We are looking forward to his performance at the Whatley Center," Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center, said.

Vieaux is expanding the definition of what it means to be a classical guitarist and changing the face of guitar†repertoire, building a devoted audience and fan base along the way. He is a musician noted for virtuosic and stirring†performances, imaginative programming, and uncommon communicative gifts. His collaborations with flutist Gary Schocker,†harpist Yolanda Kondonassis, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, and bandoneon/accordion virtuoso Julien Labro continue to display

Vieaux?s broad range of musical interests. Recent career highlights include solo performances at Lincoln Center, Spivey Hall,†the Chautauqua Festival, and a return to Music@Menlo.

Tickets to the concert are $25 for adults and $5 for students. Call the Whatley Center box office at 903-434-8181 to order tickets. For more information about this, or other upcoming performances at the Whatley Center, visit www.ntcc.edu/whatley.
