NTCC is excited to kick off the 11th year of its innovative Work4College Program. After holding orientation sessions earlier this month, 81 students will start the program on June 9th. Of that total, 64 students will be working on the NTCC campus and 17 more will be working at local high schools.
The program received more than 130 applications this year. Work4College helps students earn money for college while getting real work experience. Students earn $15 an hour—half of their pay goes into a scholarship account for future college classes, and the other half goes into their pocket.
"We are looking forward to welcoming new and returning Work4College students," Mason May, Director of Work4College, said. "It's going to be an exciting summer filled with sweat, fun and a lot of learning."
Along with working, students take a class each week to learn important life skills like budgeting, good manners, and showing gratitude. The program is open to students who have finished 10th grade, and they can take part for up to two summers. Campus jobs include areas like plant services (groundskeeping and maintenance), student services, the Ag farm, and more.
Work4College is fully funded by private donations and is not based on financial need. Students are chosen because they are willing to work hard. If you see young people working around campus this summer, they’re probably part of this amazing program.
