Northeast Texas Community College is proud to announce that student José Fuentes has been named one of the top four finalists for International President of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society. Fuentes, a member of NTCC’s Alpha Mu Chi chapter, will campaign for the position at the PTK Catalyst International Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, in late March.
Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing academic achievement among students at associate degree-granting colleges. The organization has more than 200,000 active members in approximately 1,300 chapters across 11 countries, making the International President role one of the most prestigious student leadership roles a student can achieve.
Being named a top four finalist places Fuentes among the most accomplished community college student leaders in the world. His involvement in PTK includes serving as Texas Region District III Vice President, leading workshops and organizing events, as well as founding and leading Raíces y Alas, NTCC’s Hispanic student organization, and serving in other campus leadership roles.
Dr. Melissa Fulgham, NTCC PTK advisor, said Fuentes’ dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact.
“José exemplifies the values of Phi Theta Kappa through his leadership, service and commitment to lifting others. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments, and we know he will represent NTCC and PTK with integrity and passion as he campaigns for International President,” Fulgham said.
Please join us in congratulating José Fuentes on this outstanding achievement and wishing him success as he continues his campaign at the regional and international levels.
