Several Northeast Texas Community College faculty attended the 79th Annual TCCTA Convention in Frisco, Texas, joining community college educators, staff, and leaders from across the state. Attendees included Dr. Melissa Fulgham, Matt Homer, Mandy Smith, Dr. Jackie Johnston, Cassidy Jacobs-Stiger and Dr. Doug Richey, who participated in three days of professional learning, collaboration, and statewide engagement focused on shaping the future of Texas community colleges.

The convention featured over 100 discipline-specific and cross-functional sessions emphasizing instructional innovation, institutional effectiveness, student success, and leadership. NTCC was well represented among presenters, with Cassidy Jacobs-Stiger, Director of Institutional Effectiveness, delivering a session titled “The Pathways to HB8 Success: Predictive Modeling Meets Improvement Science.” Her presentation highlighted strategic approaches to meeting HB8 outcomes through the use of data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement frameworks.

In addition to professional development sessions, attendees gained valuable insights into current legislative priorities affecting community colleges through updates from TCCTA’s lobbyist, helping connect state policy developments to campus-level impact. Networking opportunities throughout the convention allowed NTCC representatives to exchange best practices with colleagues from across Texas and strengthen collaborative relationships.

Overall, the 79th Annual TCCTA Convention provided NTCC faculty with meaningful opportunities for learning, advocacy, and connection, reinforcing the college’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and student success.
