The Psi Beta psychology honor society at Northeast Texas Community College will host a 5K Run/Walk/Crawl for Suicide Prevention Awareness with the aid of Active Minds this spring to bring attention to the importance of mental health and suicide prevention.

The run will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 11 on the NTCC campus, located at 2886 FM 1735 in Mount Pleasant.

Registration for the event is open through April 1 and costs $25. Forms and additional information are available through the HUM Building office.

“Suicide prevention is such an important cause, and events like this help bring people together to raise awareness and support one another,” said Dr. Karyn Skaar, NTCC psychology professor and Psi Beta advisor. “Our hope is that this event encourages conversations about mental health and reminds people that they are not alone.”

The event is open to students, employees and community members who would like to support suicide prevention efforts while enjoying a morning of fitness and fellowship.
