Northeast Texas Community College held an Open House and Ribbon Cutting event on Thursday, Oct. 19th to celebrate its new Health Sciences Simulation Center.
The state-of-the-art facility opened in August for the Fall 2023 semester and offers health science students the opportunity to receive hands-on training in a realistic setting. It is housed in the former Physical Fitness Annex building on the north side of the NTCC campus that had been in disrepair for a number of years.
Shooting "zombies" was just one of the fun games available at Scare Affair.
Northeast Texas Community College held its 35th annual Scare Affair Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 21st. Scare Affair is the college's top fundraising event of the year for student organizations. Almost $7,500
The Northeast Texas Community College Continuing Education Department will begin accepting applications for the 2024 Firefighter Academy on November 1st. Classes begin January 16th, 2024 and will be held at the Mount Pleasant Central Fire Station. The program meets on evenings during the week and on alternating Saturdays.
The NTCC Art Department hosted an artist reception featuring Rebecca Pelley McWatters on Thursday, Oct. 26th. McWatters, who lives near Fort Worth, has been featured in the Whatley Center foyer gallery for the month of October. During the reception, she spoke about the inspiration behind her art and her overarching theme of "Paint Life Boldly."
The NTCC Theatre Department is excited to collaborate with Firefly Community Theatre to present Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus - A Radio Play. The show will run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – Nov. 16, 17, and 18 at 7:30 p.m. and there will be a matinee on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 2:30 p.m at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. It is co-directed by Dr. Page Petrucka, Associate Professor of Theatre, and Teresa Wooten with Firefly Community Theatre.
Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to welcome alumna Stephani Calderon to campus on Tuesday, Oct. 24th for a seminar on How To Build A Debt Free Education. The free event is from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Humanities 129 and pizza will be provided.
Stephani will share her personal story and how she achieved $300,000 in scholarships and offer strategies on how others can position themselves to earn scholarships.
For the last sixteen years, students in select sections of Humanities and World Civilizations have had the opportunity to attend the Dallas Opera at the Winspear Opera House and visit Kalachandji’s restaurant and Hara Krishna Temple.

Honors Northeast, the Northeast Texas Community College Honors Program, is pleased to announce its Honors Students for the 2023-2024 school year. This includes seven Presidential Scholars and nineteen Honors Scholars.
Northeast Texas Community College will host its 35th annual Scare Affair event this Saturday, Oct. 21st. The event will include free candy, a costume contest, bounce houses, food, games and more!
We look forward to seeing everyone there as we celebrate 35 years of family fun. Tickets are .50 cents each and credit cards will be accepted this year. Attractions generally range from 2-6 tickets each. Trick-or-treating is free for all children. Stop by the SUB before 7:30 to sign up for the costume contest. There are children and adult categories with cash prizes for winners.
