Offices open Saturday for registration


Northeast Texas Community College (main campus student services) will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 11 to assist students needing to complete the registration process for the spring semester. Students will have the opportunity to speak with academic advisors, access computers to register online, make payments and receive help with financial aid.†The College Store will also be open during this time to allow students to purchase books and other supplies.†The spring semester begins Monday, Jan. 13.

Free GED and ESL classes offered

The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) will offer free General Education Development (GED) classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at various locations throughout the area this spring. Phi Theta Kappa goes Christmas Caroling

Members of the Northeast Texas Community College Alpha Mu Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa spent time spreading good cheer over the holiday break. A group of members went Christmas Caroling door-to-door on December 23. NTCC Professor Dr. Paula Wilhite was among the Mount Pleasant residents who received a surprise serenade. She commented in a recent Facebook post: "The best of the best! Thanks for the wonderful music..."

This was one of many community service projects that Alpha Mu Chi conducts throughout the year.

Gene and Beverly Hinson give scholarships to NTCC

Mr. Gene Hinson (left) and Mrs. Beverly Hinson (right) are pictured giving donations to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, Vice President for Advancement at Northeast Texas Community College.††Mr. Hinson gave a $500 check to establish the new Hinson Ranch Scholarship and Mrs. Hinson contributed $300 to the Richard E. & Joan Eckman Memorial Scholarship for students in the Industrial Technology Training Center. Robin Sharp appointed to NTCC Board

At a special called meeting Thursday, the Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees appointed Robin Sharp to fill the unexpired term of the place six board seat recently vacated by Bill Priefert. Sharp will be sworn in at the next regular board meeting in January.

Sharp is Executive Vice President at Guaranty Bond Bank. He has 29 years experience in banking. Sharp earned his bachelorπs degree from Texas Tech University, attended the American British College in Barcelona, Spain, and continued his education at Southwestern Graduate School of Banking.

Jerry and Susan Massey give $1,300 to Whatley Campaign
