Economic impact study shows value of higher education in Texas

According to a†report released last week†on the†economic impact of higher education in the state of Texas, the colleges and universities in Texas†have a combined economic impact equivalent to nearly 11% of the state's gross state product.†The†study†combined†three sectors (Public Universities, Community and Technical Colleges, and Independent Universities) of higher education in Texas†and concluded they are highly significant†drivers of the state's growing economy.

Fine Arts Club of Mount Pleasant gives scholarship

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $500 gift to benefit a student majoring in fine arts. This scholarship, contributed by the Fine Arts Club of Mount Pleasant, is one of the longest running scholarships at NTCC (established 1985).†Pictured, Melba Spann (left) and Deloris O'Connor (right) present the gift to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement. Team Arise gives $500 for veteran scholarship

Michael Brown (right) recently gave $500 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation on behalf of his organization, Team Arise. The funds will establish a scholarship to benefit NTCC students who are veterans or children of veterans. Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement, is pictured receiving the gift. Eagles Baseball continues winning streak

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) baseball team dominated Pratt Community College this weekend, winning four out of four games.


The highlight of the series was a 12-run shutout Saturday evening pitched by Tim Winders. Friday?s game was a series of back and forth runs every inning with local pitcher Brandon Colbert from Pittsburg pitching the lion's share of the game. Colbert racked up eight strikeouts in four-and-a-half innings.

NTCC softball kicks off spring season

The Northeast Texas Community College Lady Eagles Softball team split two doubleheaders with the Temple Junior College Leopards to start their season. They kicked off the series with a 10-0 win on Friday and dropped their nightcap 3-2. The Lady Eagles started off the day on Saturday with an 8-0 win and dropped the second game in another one-run barn burner, 4-3.


?We scheduled to play Temple at the last minute and we had just started practicing on the field and coming together as a team.

Bestselling author Laura Schroff speaks at NTCC

Bestselling author and motivational speaker, Laura Schroff, spoke at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts this week. The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation sponsored the event as part of its annual Distinguished Lecture Series. Schroff shared the inspirational true story behind her book,†An Invisible Thread, which shot to the top of the New York Times Bestseller List after its release in 2011. After the lecture, Schroff visited with guests and signed copies of her book.
