Faculty Guide: Library Instruction

To reserve a date and time for libary instruction, call Heather Shaw at ext. 8152.

From our viewpoint, several steps greatly help NTCC students become more proficient in using college libraries:

  1. Fill out the Library Instruction Session form so that we can set up the class to best tailor your needs.
  2. Schedule a library instruction session that deals with a specific assignment.
  3. Ask us about our available resources that will support a specific assignment.
  4. Help students understand the resources they can and cannot use in the assignment.

i.e. Students often tell us they cannot use the Internet but have to find magazine or journal articles.  The overwhelming majority of articles in the library are found in online databases delivered over the Internet.  We do not consider these "Internet" resources like, say, a web page found using Google.
