With three rodeos left in season, NTCC in good position for CNFR

The NTCC men finished second overall at Texas A&M University-Kingsville rodeo and the women finished sixth. Zack Bocco took first place in the men's All-Around after earning second in both Steer Wrestling and Team Roping Heeler. Wacey Hathcock won first in the Saddle Bronc event and Kyler Bramhall took second in Team Roping Header. Dustin Jackson also placed third in Bareback Riding. In women's action, Sadie Johnson finished in third place in the Goat Tying.

"Our guys really stood out at Kingsville. The girls team didn't place as high as they have at previous rodeos, but they are still in good overall position in the region. I am very pleased with where we are right now," CJ Mohl, NTCC head rodeo coach, said.

Both the NTCC men's and women's teams are sitting at fourth place overall in the Southern Region standings and Bocco is currently second in the men's All-Around. NTCC men stand in the following positions within the region in their events:

Sadie Johnson leads the region in Goat Tying and Maegan Boyd is in ninth in the same event. Cheyenne Richards is currently in fourth overall in Barrel Racing and Rachel Henderson is third in Breakaway Roping.

NTCC will continue the season at Texas A&M ? College Station later this month. Teams and individuals are now in hot pursuit of coveted spots in the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR), which is held in Casper, Wyoming in June.

"I feel like we are well positioned at this point and have a good shot at sending full men's and women's teams to the CNFR if we can keep up the momentum that we have going. This one of the most talented group of athletes I have worked with and I have no doubt that they have what it takes to make it happen," Mohl said.
