The Northeast Texas Community College BioChem Student Organization has been busy this semester! Students served as judges at the Region VIII Educational Service Center Science Fair on February 8. They judged student projects ranging from grades four through 12 †in biology, behavioral science, chemical/physical science and inventions.
Theatre Northeast to perform Over the River and Through the Woods
A stellar cast headlines the current Theatre Northeast production of the charming comedy†Over the River†and Through the Woods, by Joe DiPietro. The show runs February 25-27 at 7:30 p.m. and February 28 at 2:05 p.m. in the ?Onstage Theatre? of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Northeast Texas Community College.
Construction Alert
Northeast Texas Community College experienced a brief power outage in several buildings Tuesday morning caused by a construction related incident. Power was restored in all buildings except Humanities, which remains without power for the time being. Students who have classes in the Humanities building should report to their classrooms as regularly scheduled and new arrangements will be made at that time.
Newly Weds Foods employees complete training with NTCC

Honors Northeast accepting applications
The Honors Program of Northeast Texas Community College is accepting applications for the 2016-2017 school year. The deadline to apply is March 1. High School seniors in the top tenth of their class are welcome to apply, as well as NTCC students with a 3.5 GPA or higher. Honors Northeast combines challenging seminars of key core curricular classes, with opportunities for advanced mentoring, student travel, interscholastic competition, publications and community service.
NTCC Eagles lose 9-8 to Weatherford College
Ten hits weren't enough for the Northeast Texas Community College Eagles baseball team as they lost a shootout, 9-8, to Weatherford College on Thursday at NTCC's Bob Baker Stadium.†

Feb. 15 Construction Update
As you have probably noticed, the underground construction is making its way around campus. Beginning this weekend, crews will move from between Humanities and Math/Science to the plaza toward the Admin/Student Services building. This may impede walking traffic and noise will continue to be a†concern.
Honors Northeast promotes scholars
The Northeast Texas Community College Honors Committee recently promoted Hector Zuniga, an NTCC sophomore from Mount Pleasant, from the title of Honors Scholar to Presidential Scholar. Zuniga won the citation for Academic Excellence in last fall?s Biotex Honors Seminar and has maintained a 4.0 GPA at NTCC.† The Biotex seminar is composed each fall of entering honors students, and Zuniga won the top rank.†Honors Northeast also admitted two additional Honors Scholars - Kassandra† Martinez and Ryan-Rose Mendoza.
