The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $25,000 gift from the Carroll Shelby Foundation to support students enrolled in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute (CSAI).
The funds provided scholarships for CSAI students during the 2026-2027 academic year, helping students pursue hands-on training and prepare for careers in the automotive industry.
This week, CSAI Director Austin Maness accepted an invitation from Paris High School (PHS) Senior Automotive Instructor Bryan Ochoa to speak with students about the exciting educational pathways available at NTCC.
The Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute (CSAI) was invited to the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang Club of America (MCA) at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. The event was co-hosted by the Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC), who was holding their 51st annual event and drew participants from all over the US. CSAI was asked to organize and administer the "Poker Run" that took participants to notable locations in northeast Georgia for the chance to win cash prizes based on the cards they drew. Aaron Shelby was also in attendance and spoke at the evening banquet.
Route 66, the historic highway that spans 2,400 miles from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California, marks its official 100th anniversary in 2026. cities along Route 66 have been hosting domestic and international travelers throughout the year with new and historic roadside attractions that reflect the history of Route 66. Tulsa, Oklahoma was the location for the Mustang Club of America (MCA) event appropriately named "Mustangs on the Mother Road" that took place 24-26 July, hosting more than 300 Mustangs and their owners from all over the country.
If you ask most people what the Shelby brand is known for, they would probably reply with something related to cars, especially Ford Mustangs. An avid enthusiast would probably be aware of many different types of vehicles that Carroll Shelby played a significant role in their creation. In 2026, Ford and Shelby American celebrate many anniversaries, most notably the 60th anniversary of the Ford win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, when three Ford GT40’s crossed the finish line to win the race. A more recent anniversary is that of the Shelby truck line that began production in 2016.
The Carroll Shelby Automotive Student Institute (CSAI) participated in the Annual Shelby Car Show in Plano, Texas, on May 30. The event was hosted by Third Coast Bank, the Shelby family, and the Shelby Cobra Association of Texas (SCAT).

Steve and Weida Borkowski recently presented the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation with a $1,000 scholarship. The funds will provide a Work4College scholarship to support a student in NTCC's Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute this summer.
