Blood drive planned for February 3rd

Northeast Texas Community College will partner with LifeShare Blood Centers to host a campus blood drive Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. in SUB 101.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate. One blood donation can save up to three lives, helping patients facing accidents, surgeries, cancer treatments and other critical needs. The donation process is quick, safe and easy.

Dr. Chris T. McAllister co-publishes research in scientific journal

Dr. Chris T. McAllister, NTCC Natural Sciences Department, and colleagues, Eric M. Leis, Dr. Donald G. Cloutman, and Dr. Henry W. Robison, recently published their collaborative research in the journal Diversity on a new species of myxosporean parasite from green sunfish in Arkansas.  Interestingly, the new species was named Myxobolus picassoi, after the famous Spanish sculptor and painter, Pablo Picasso (1881-1973).

Adult Education offering free GED, ESL classes starting in February

The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College is accepting new and returning students for its GED (General Educational Development) and English Language programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration beginning January 20. Registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (old Mt. Pleasant High School) at 105 N. Riddle Street in Mt. Pleasant. Please call 903-434-8341 for an appointment.
