NTCC launches plumber pre-apprentice program this fall

Looking for a stable, hands-on career with room to grow? Northeast Texas Community College is now enrolling students in a new Plumber Pre-Apprentice Program, designed to help individuals take the first step into one of Texas' most in-demand skilled trades.

The 14-week evening program meets Tuesday through Thursday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., beginning September 8 and concluding December 10. Students will gain foundational plumbing knowledge and hands-on experience that prepares them to begin working as a plumber apprentice. Tuition for the program is $3,000.

Continuing Education hosts OSHA training for Summit Mechanical

On Friday, May 22nd, Northeast Texas Community College Continuing Education hosted a six-hour OSHA training for 10 employees from Summit Mechanical of Paris, Texas.

The training focused on workplace safety awareness and OSHA standards, helping participants strengthen their knowledge of safe work practices and jobsite compliance. NTCC appreciates Summit Mechanical’s commitment to employee safety and ongoing workforce development.

Basic Peace Officer Course coming to NTCC

Kilgore College will soon host a Day Basic Peace Officer Course on the campus of Northeast Texas Community College, offering a local pathway for individuals interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.

The 775-hour course is scheduled to begin June 29, with a mandatory orientation set for June 23 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Classes will typically meet Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with some evening and nighttime training required. The program generally takes five to six months to complete.

NTCC Driver’s Ed hits the road

In March, Continuing Education launched its first Driver’s Education course. Eight students, along with instructor Dolanda Lockett, completed 32 hours of classroom instruction and are now officially hitting the road for their first week of behind-the-wheel training. Each student will log 7 hours of driving time and 7 hours of in-car observation.

Interest in this course has been building since last fall, and Continuing Education is excited to offer this opportunity to both teens and adults in our community.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course starting soon

Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Continuing Education is offering a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course April 27 through May 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the NTCC campus (2886 FM 1735, Mount Pleasant).

This intensive five-day course is designed for professionals seeking to improve their leadership skills, advance in management, or gain a competitive edge in today’s workplace. Lean Six Sigma training focuses on increasing efficiency, enhancing quality, and reducing costs—skills that are highly valued across all industries.

Pickleball class begins April 28th

NTCC's continuing education Pickleball class is back by popular demand! There's never been a better time to get some exercise and have a great time making new friends while learning about this exciting sport.

The class, which costs $75, will be held April 28 through May 21 at the NTCC tennis courts on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. It will be taught by Marc Levesque. Space is limited, so be sure to register early to claim your spot on the court!

Free Critical Retirement Essentials seminars planned

Northeast Texas Community College’s Continuing Education department will soon host a free six-week seminar series designed to help community members better prepare for retirement.

The series, Critical Retirement Essentials, will be led by Kevin Welborn of Monticello Financial Group and will cover a variety of important financial topics, including retirement strategies, 401(k) rollovers, estate planning and 1035 exchanges.
