Description of job duties:

  • Travel is required throughout the week to the following high school campuses: Mt. Pleasant High School & Harts Bluff High School
  • Build strong relationships with high school students and their families, particularly within the Hispanic and underserved communities
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages open dialogue and trust
  • Engage and respond to written, email, voicemail, and verbal requests for information about Dual Credit and Postsecondary transition
  • Communicate regularly with faculty, staff, and administrators regarding student progress
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with high school students and their parents, offering guidance, support, and assistance
  • Schedule and facilitate one-to-one advising sessions to discuss academic and career goals, course selection, and the college application process
  • Track and report interactions with students and parents
  • Work collaboratively with students and their families to identify challenges and opportunities related to pursuing higher education
  • Provide relevant information and support to address these challenges effectively
  • Organize and coordinate activities at targeted high schools to raise awareness about college opportunities.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and teachers to conduct workshops, seminars, and informational sessions for students and parents (some evening presentations may be required)
  • Assist students and their families in completing financial aid applications, including the FAFSA and scholarship applications
  • Provide guidance on available financial resources and scholarship opportunities
  • Serve as the primary college contact person for high school students
  • Continuously engage admitted students to ensure they meet critical enrollment milestones
  • Develop strategies to prevent "summer melt" by addressing any barriers to enrollment
  • Represent the Dual Credit Department and attend meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and other qualifications required:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with underserved communities, particularly Hispanic and first-generation college students
  • Ability to work and manage job duties independently and work as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to manage a large student roster
  • Ability to take initiative in serving the students and providing support
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with school faculty/staff/administrators
  • Computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications

Education requirements:

  •  Bachelor's degree in a related field is required
