Dual Credit Adjunct Faculty Agriculture - Horticulture/Animal Science

Education Preferred 

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 18 hours completed in the course they are to instruct:
  • High School courses: Advanced Plant Science or Advanced Animal Science or related discipline
  • Both courses have course content and materials delivered through Blackboard and ICEV online curriculum. 

Experience and other Qualifications Required: 

  • 3 years teaching experience preferred with high school students in advanced classes.
  • Top candidates will have experience in Blackboard and ICEV online curriculum. 

Brief Description of Job Duties: 

  • Instruct dual credit agriculture courses (Intro Animal Science and/or Intro Horticulture, and other courses) utilizing materials in Blackboard
  • Provide instruction for lab/applied activities
  • Take assessments
  • Adhere to college deadlines for establishing syllabi, on-line curriculum, providing necessary student learning objectives or SLO’s,
  • Partner with the agriculture team to deliver quality educational courses to complete degree and certificate options at NTCC and local high school requirements.
  • Instructors will also assist in the promotion and marketing of the dual-credit courses taught. 

Pay: 

  • Online course scale is $1800 per course for a minimum of 10 students and maximum of 32.
  • Class numbers of less than 10 will be paid on a per-student basis.
  • Instructors will be contracted per year and per course taught. 

Other: 

  • Student response surveys, attendance, performance in course(s) taught, and overall grades will be utilized to determine effectiveness of both the course material taught and instructor performance.
  • Failure to have 75% pass rate of students will result in canceling of the on-line course taught and could prompt no contract renewal for the following semester.
  • NOTE: All online course materials and assignments must be submitted for review and approval prior to first class day for the course.
