Under the supervision of the Police Department Staff Sergeant, the Safety Officer is responsible for student, faculty, and staff safety at NTCC, by patrolling the campus grounds and monitoring buildings and facilities to ensure they are secure. Monitor the movements of students, faculty, staff, and visitors, ensuring a safe environment. Contacting 911 in case of emergencies and being a first reporter for the campus community.
Description of Job Duties:
- Patrol parking lots and outlying buildings (baseball, softball, and soccer fields, rodeo arena, maintenance and college farm)
- Patrol buildings and checks entrances and exits to ensure they are locked or unlocked as needed.
- Help members of the campus community; or assist them in calling the appropriate organization for assistance.
- Provides information and assistance to visitors.
- Makes reports of incidents on campus.
- Reports all hazardous and dangerous conditions that may affect the safety and well-being of students, employees and visitors.
- Report emergencies and suspicious activities.
- May perform other tasks on limited basis as required
- Assist students or faculty to protected areas during severe storm warnings.
- Provides escorts for members of the campus community.
- All other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Good driving record and eligibility to drive a college owned/leased vehicle.
- Pass a background investigation prior to employment.
- Be of high integrity and professionalism.
- Must be 18 years of age.

- This is an outside moving position with some safety/health hazard potential.
- Extreme – heat or cold. Wet or iced surfaces. Vehicle engines. Moving vehicles. Loud environments.

This position is an "as needed" position. The purpose of this position is to provide shift coverage during times of need. Flexibility is required with last-minute requests for shift coverage as a component of this position.
