Nothing prepared Christi Denney for the loss of her beloved sister, Nita DeWoody, in October 2016. However, In the midst of her grief, Denney became determined to do something good to carry on her sister?s memory. With that goal in mind, she organized a charity 5K race that was held in October 2017 in Pittsburg.

The Mount Pleasant Fine Arts Club recently gave $500 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation. The funds will be used to provide a scholarship for a fine arts student at NTCC. The group has been contributing to scholarships for more than 25 years. The NTCC Foundation is now accepting applications for International Sulphur Transfer Scholarships.

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2018-2019 academic year. Applications are available online at www.ntcc.edu/scholarships or can be picked up from Lori Hunter?s office in the Student Services Center (former Administration Building). The priority deadline for scholarships is March 19, 2018.

NTCC scholarships are competitive and vary in amounts.

Twelve Northeast Texas Community College employees received a total of $15,473.86 in Whatley Employee Enhancement Grants for 2018. The Whatley Employee Enhancement Fund was established by James & Elizabeth Whatley specifically for NTCC employees to fund special projects and enhance educational opportunities that might fall outside the regular budget.

Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery recently gave $2,000 to support special projects at Northeast Texas Community College. The gift will help Honors Northeast sponsor the 2018 McGraw-Hill Poster Contest and it will also support next year?s Honors film project. Richard and Margaret Perryman recently gave $2,750 to support the Northeast Texas Community College Work Scholarship Program. Specifically, they sponsored a luncheon that is held at the end of each summer to recognize work scholarship students, supervisors and donors. Al and Sue Havenstrite recently gave $5,000 to support scholarships at Northeast Texas Community College. All funds given to scholarship endowments will be matched dollar-for-dollar through the Title V grant program, doubling the contribution.
